Vietnam to showcase 11 folk art genres at Smithsonian Festival (April 27, 2007)
VietNamNet Bridge - The Ministry of Culture and Information has chosen 11 cultural genres to be displayed at the 2007 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, in the US, in late June. A delegation of 52 members, including 39 folk artists and artisans, will participate in the festival, which will take place from June 23-July 9.

AMSTERDAM.- The three-day auction of 76.000 pieces of Chinese export porcelain from the Ca Mau shipwreck, conducted in 5 sessions on 29, 30 and 31 January 2007 at Sotheby’s in Amsterdam, has raised a total of €3,046,716 . This figure more than doubles the pre-sale estimate of €1.4 million for the three-day auction. Proceeds from the sale will be used by the Vietnamese government to fund further salvage operations, and to provide necessary research and display facilities for the items retained.
HANOI, Jan 11 Asia Pulse - The Vietnamese Trade Ministry will accelerate trade promotion in combination with tourism to increase incomes and improve the living conditions of people in craft villages. In the long term, the move aims at tapping these villages' strong points and ensuring their sustainable development.
Vietnam and Singapore will promote cultural heritage cooperation for the 2007-2012 period by increasing cultural exchanges, jointly organising exhibitions and exchanging expertise in the collection and preservation of cultural heritage. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on April 9, by Dang Van Bai, Director of the Department of National Cultural Heritage of the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Information, and Michael Koh, Chief Executive Officer of the National Heritage Board of the Singaporean Ministry of Information, Communications and Arts.
